But everything is not that simple and straight-forward, as we quite soon learn when the plot thickens."
It’s a simple plot, assemble the team and save the girl from the bandits. But there are a few welcome twists and turns towards the end. Our five heroes are not really killers but whatever. Tang Ching is ok as the leader of the team but my favorite ones are Li Ching and Ku Feng.
The first half of the relatively short runtime is nice but not terribly exciting.
The second half, when the mission is on, fares much better. Good and at times bloody action keep the entertainment level reasonably high.
Director Cheng Kang has made better movies for Shaw’s like “The 14 Amazons” or “The Sword of Swords” but this is a nice little men-on-a-mission Wuxia worth watching for fans. Nothing more but certainly nothing less.
