Plot Summary
Working in a Boston homeless shelter, Nick Flynn re-encounters his father, a con man and self-proclaimed poet. Sensing trouble in his own life, Nick wrestles with the notion of reaching out yet again to his dad.

Trivia: The film was shot in New York City, where much of the real story took place, and several scenes were set within the city’s homeless-shelter system. Nick Flynn served as an executive producer and appears briefly in the film. In a notable production anecdote, Robert De Niro was reportedly turned away by security at the Greenwich Hotel, which he co-owns, because he was still in character and was not recognized.
