Synopsis:
Amélie Poulain (Audrey Tautou) is an eccentric, imaginative girl who grew up isolated from other children due to her father's erroneous diagnosis of a heart defect. Now working as a waitress in a whimsical Montmartre café, Amélie leads a quiet life, retreating into her rich, vibrant fantasy world. Her existence is radically transformed on the night Princess Diana dies, when she discovers a hidden cache of childhood toys behind a loose wall tile in her apartment. After covertly returning the treasures to their long-lost owner and witnessing his overwhelming, tearful joy, Amélie makes a silent, profound vow: she will dedicate her life to orchestrating anonymous, elaborate acts of kindness to bring happiness to those around her.
