Plot
A Vatican priest discovers Dante's original Divine Comedy manuscript. When asked to
authenticate it, writer Nick Tosches steals it, while a parallel story follows Dante's
quest to create his masterpiece.
Trama
Un solitario e disilluso studioso viene ingaggiato dalla mafia per autenticare un
misterioso manoscritto riemerso nei bassifondi di New York: l’originale perduto della
*Divina Commedia*. Sconvolto dalla scoperta e in cerca di rivalsa, l'uomo decide di
tradire i mandanti e fuggire con il prezioso volume insieme alla donna che ama. Il furto
scatena una pericolosa caccia all’uomo e una cospirazione globale. Parallelamente, la
storia si sposta nell’Italia del XIV secolo. Un giovane Dante Alighieri, intrappolato in
un matrimonio infelice e in piena crisi spirituale, fugge in Sicilia per inseguire
l’ispirazione. Qui, guidato da un enigmatico mentore, dà forma alla sua visione poetica e
scrive la *Commedia*. Due uomini, separati dai secoli ma legati dallo stesso destino,
compiono un viaggio dalla dannazione alla salvezza, mossi dall’amore, dalla bellezza e
dalla follia della creazione.
