Based off a 4K master this release combines both the Criterion and Master of Cinema discs as such there's multiple audio options and expert commentary tracks. Inspired by the spirit of Akira Kurosawa’s Sanshiro Sugata, the film follows former judo Trivia: The original Chinese title 柔道龍虎榜 translates roughly to “Judo Dragon Tiger List.” Director Johnnie To has openly described the film as a tribute to legendary Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa.
