Primi del Settecento. L'Ospedale della Pietà è il più grande orfanotrofio di Venezia, ma è anche un'istituzione che avvia le orfane più brillanti allo studio della musica. La sua orchestra è una delle più apprezzate al mondo. Cecilia ha vent'anni, vive da sempre alla Pietà ed è una straordinaria violinista. L'arte ha dischiuso la sua mente ma non le porte dell'orfanotrofio; può esibirsi solo lì dentro, dietro una grata, per ricchi mecenati. Questo fino a che un vento di primavera scuote improvvisamente la sua vita. Tutto cambia con l'arrivo del nuovo insegnante di violino. Il suo nome è Antonio Vivaldi.
