The Old Testament is the first, larger part of the Christian Bible (comprising 39–46 books), written before Jesus Christ to document God’s covenant with Israel. It includes history, law, poetry, and prophecy, covering creation to the return from Babylonian exile, detailing God’s relationship with humanity and the foundational faith of Israel.
