Release Notes:
Sources:
#1: BFI GBR UHD Blu-ray (video, filtered audio, commentary, subtitles) - thanks KAKAROT!
#2: BFI Player via AMZN WEB-DL (main audio) - thanks Moshrom!
#3: Criterion USA UHD Blu-ray (commentary, subtitles) - thanks JUNGLiST!
#4: Toho JPN UHD Blu-ray (subtitles) - thanks Anonymous!
#5: SUI Blu-ray (subtitles) - thanks AdBlue!
#6: FRA Blu-ray (subtitles) - thanks Blackbird!
#7: iTunes, Amazon, Cineasterna WEB-DLs (subtitles)
Notes:
BFI used the same scan as the recent Toho (JPN) and Criterion (USA) discs, but featuring their own DV HDR grade.
The film dirt present in the scan has been left untouched though, unlike in the Criterion release which has cleaned it up.
I personally prefer this release for its grading, but you can't really go wrong here.
Unfortunately, unlike Ikiru, this BFI disc does not include the excellent audio track they made available via their web stream in the past, which remains the best source and has been synced to this release. The BFI Blu-ray audio track sounds comparable to the JPN one and was used for the filtered option.
Inexplicably, there are 12 dupe frames in this source, six each side of the intermission, resulting in a combined 0.5s of desync. Audio and subtitles have been corrected to account for that.
Dupe frames: 19008, 46478, 71935, 97611, 124790, 148695, 174355, 199362, 220863, 239304, 264713, 281689
Included differently translated subtitles from Criterion and BFI discs. Added missing periods in the BFI track (srt).
Big thanks to xwmario for his work on the JPN remux, and especially syncing the main audio track!
