A director makes a movie based on a murder he committed.
Poddany ogromnej krytyce za ostatni film ekscentryczny reżyser, Chris Neville (Eric Bogosian),
morduje w swoim apartamencie podrzędną kandydatkę na aktorkę (Zoë Lund). Prowadzący śledztwo
policjanci oskarżają jednak chłopaka dziewczyny, Keffe'a (Brad Rijn), który w dniu zabójstwa
pokłócił się z nią. Tymczasem Neville przez przypadek spotyka niezwykle podobną do zamordowanej
kobietę. Pragnąc odzyskać swoją uznaną pozycję w branży, dostrzega w morderstwie doskonały potencjał
pod scenariusz i postanawia go zrealizować. Namawia więc nieznajomą do zagrania roli ofiary, a Keffe'owi
dzięki szerokim znajomościom - pomaga wyjść z aresztu. Chłopak zostaje jednak poddany szantażowi:
