In een klein Amerikaans dorpje in de jaren 40 woont een 8-jarig kind dat
de bijnaam 'Little Boy' heeft. Vanwege zijn kleine postuur wordt hij
gepest en buitengesloten door leeftijdsgenoten. Zijn enige echte vriend
is zijn vader James. Het leven van Little Boy staat dan op z'n kop als
zijn vader wordt opgeroepen om te vechten in de oorlog. Geïnspireerd door
zijn stripboekheld gelooft Little Boy dat hij zijn vader terug naar huis
kan laten komen. Om dit v oor elkaar te krijgen zal hij bevriend moeten
