Accidents Happen is een bittere - coming of age - komedie over de Conways, een doorsnee familie in een Amerikaanse buitenwijk. Aan het hoofd staat moeder Gloria (Geena Davis) liefhebbend, ad rem en af en toe enigszins cynisch. Haar jongste zoon Billy lijkt het noodlot aan te trekken en veroorzaakt ongelukken aan de lopende band.
